On June 21, the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce hosted its third Thursday business luncheon to honor retiring president, Kent Dykes, for his dedicated service to the Easley Chamber. Speaking to a sell-out audience at DunBurks Premier Events, remarks were given by Dr. Brian Swords, Chairman of the Easley Chamber Board of Directors; Sean Thornton, Chairman of the Powdersville Business Council; and Fox Simons, Easley City Administrator. In addition, written remarks from U.S. Congressman Jeff Duncan, who was unable to attend the luncheon, were read. Kent was also recognized for his support of the Miss Easley Pageant Scholarship Program, and was honored with a Key to the City by the City of Easley. And as a token of their appreciation for Kent’s service, the Chamber Board of Directors presented several special gifts to Kent on behalf of the chamber and its Ambassador committee, culminating with the presentation of a “retirement rocking chair”, which was signed by those in attendance.
