Spider Man Comics Online
Marvel Comics recently announced it is releasing many of its classic comic titles online. The move comes as part of an on-going competition between Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics to showcase their products on the Internet.Marvel hopes the decision will attract new readers as well as vintage collectors. For readers to view old issues online, Marvel is charging $9.99 U.S. a month, or $4.99 with an annual membership. The re-releases include roughly 2,500 issues, with 20 additional issues released each subsequent week. Fans will be delighted to know the first 100 issues of Stan Lee’s quintessential 1963 seriesAmazing Spider-Man are available.Marvel also plans on releasing new content through downloadable PDF files. In an Associated Press article, Marvel Comics president, Dan Buckley, contends the decision was made because of the increasing difficulty for comic books to reach their target audience.“You don’t have that spinner rack of comic books sitting in the local five-and-dime any more,” Buckley says. “We don’t have our product intersecting kids in their lifestyle space as much as we used to.”
